![]() ![]() An enhanced variable-sized packing particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSOLBP) is proposed to minimize the number of physical servers and to realize the load balance of physical servers, in which a levy flight algorithm is combined with a particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) to avoid the loss of particle dispersion when finding the local and global optimal solutions. A dynamic bin packing method is proposed to reduce the total cost of cloud resource allocation by permanently closing the empty box. The VM placement problem on physical servers is transformed into the bin packing problem of n objects packed into m boxes, which requires that all objects be placed in the minimum number of boxes. The bin packing problem is one classical method of VM placement. These algorithms are simple and easy, but they are also prone to waste resources, especially in large-scale cloud platforms. Some simple heuristic algorithms, such as Round Robin (RR), Best Fit (BF), and Min-Max, are applied in the resource allocation process of the small-scale cloud platforms. To Find the optimal solution is also a problem. This process can not only satisfy resource demands of VMs but also improve the resource utilization of the cloud platform. The process of resource allocation is a problem of virtual machine placement for finding the suitable physical servers upon which to place virtual machines (VMs). An efficient resource allocation method is crucial to meet these goals. However, users pay more attention to the timeliness and optimization of their emergent resource demands, and cloud service providers are highly concerned with how to manage massive resources and improve resource utilization. Most existing methods of cloud resource allocation do not support the emergent mode, meaning that they cannot guarantee the timeliness and optimization of resource allocation. Cloud resource demands submitted to them also appear the characteristics of diversity, burst and emergency. ![]() More and more applications are being deployed on cloud platforms, whose resource scales have become increasingly large with the application and development of cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence. A large number of users can use these virtual resources on a cloud platform anytime and anywhere. The experimental results show that our algorithm can not only allocate resources quickly and optimally for emergent demands but also balance the utilization of all kinds of resources.Ĭloud computing applies virtualization technology to divide massive physical resources into various virtual resources. Then, an improved evolutionary algorithm, RAA-PI-NSGAII, is presented to solve the multi-objective optimization model, which not only improves the quality and distribution uniformity of the solution set but also accelerates the solving speed. After building the priority of resource allocation and the matching distances of resource performance and resource proportion to respond to emergent resource demands, a multi-objective optimization model of cloud resource allocation is established based on the minimum number of the physical servers used and the minimum matching distances of resource performance and resource proportion. This paper proposes a resource allocation algorithm for emergent demands in cloud computing. The traditional cloud resource allocation methods do not support the emergent mode in guaranteeing the timeliness and optimization of resource allocation. Cloud resource demands, especially some unclear and emergent resource demands, are growing rapidly with the development of cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence. ![]() Using his E allows him to mop up any status effect that takes time to activate. One of the best interactions the champion has comes from his E. Using these two scenarios makes it easier to make clear plays with his Q and R, followed by the sustain from his W. Because of this, players should look for other players being the focus and flank the side or flash engage to force what Yone needs. When it comes to playing the aggressor, Yone is going to look for an opening with R on many targets or to zone in on the carry threats. Players should be aware that other players easily read Yone. ![]() Using his gap closing, bonus damage, CC from his Q and ultimate means that he is a great team fighter and 1v1 assassinator. Yone will find opportunities to roam, contest junglers, objectives, and more in mid, and this is where his assassin playstyle comes in. This will take a little time to get used to, but smart play like this allows Yone to survive lanes he should otherwise suffer.īut the main benefit of why Yone should play mid is because of objectives. Yone should not have an issue falling too far behind with missed CS under the tower. Furthermore, Yone’s Q and W can hit multiple minions under the tower. Combine this with his E and Yone has a way to re-engage and create a 2v1 quickly. Allowing enemy mids to push in against him will only expose the enemy to a jungle gank. While mid champions like Syndra Lissandra and other poke mages will hurt Yone, he can use this to his advantage. In the middle lane, Yone has a weaker early game, but there is room to outplay in this position. Otherwise, he will fall behind, and potentially even snowballing the enemy top laner. ![]() He will eventually need to get out of that lane if he wants to snowball the game. However, Yone is an assassin, and will eventually fall off against the tanks in the top lane and the split push duelists that also live in the side lane. So, Yone has a generally better early game in the top lane. His E gains more movement speed and deals a minimum of 25% bonus damage dealt to the opponent during the duration. Yone benefits a lot from the top lane as it is a long lane, meaning players can get more out of his E’s disengage range. Mid lane tends to get more ranged champions that counter him with trades, but the opportunity for team play enables him to snowball as intended.ĭo you need a new keyboard? Keys just not feeling like they used to? Not enough RGB? Check out the best gaming keyboards on the market today. Top lane also tends to offer more melee matchups, meaning that Yone is less likely to deal with ranged poke withering him away. Top lane is mainly about being able to handle a lane matchup that will not punish his weak early game. However, the mid lane is where he benefits the most with snowball potential. Both lanes are perfectly acceptable for him, but the top lane offers a safer lane with less ranged poke to bother him. Yone can either play in the top or mid position. All enemies hit by the slash will become airborne and move to Yone’s new position. Yone slashes his sword in a line, teleporting behind the enemy hit furthest away. When his spirit expires, he returns to his body and deals extra damage to champions damaged during the process. He can then attack and use his abilities while in this form. Yone enters his spirit form, leaving his body behind, but gains temporary movement speed. If it hits an enemy, Yone gains a shield per enemy hit and increases per champion affected. Yone cleaves his sword to deal target maximum health in damage. This ability seems more of a merger of Yasuo’s Q and E ability. Once he gains two stacks, he dashes forward and makes enemies airborne. If it successfully hits, he gains a stack of Gathering Storm. Yone slashes forward, issuing physical damage to enemies hit. Furthermore, his critical strike chance is doubled, but deals reduced critical strike damage. Every second auto-attack deals 50% of its damage as magic damage. Yone uses two blades for his auto-attacking. Typically, the kit is about getting sequences setup, being able to dive the opponents and dishing out as much damage before retreating off. Yone’s kit is all about getting burst, trades, and cc onto his enemies. It was July 2015 when Serif Europe launched the amazing software that many designers and illustrators like me are using now as their main tool for professional work. ( This is a sponsored post.) If you are in the design world, chances are that you’ve already heard about Affinity Designer, a vector graphics editor for Apple’s macOS and Microsoft Windows. The author is not affiliated with the product in any way, and the article has been reviewed independently by Serif as well as SmashingMag’s editors. You can’t import a PSD file into Clip Studio Paint and retain the vector format for the text layers. While this tutorial was kindly sponsored by Serif, the creator of Affinity, we’d like to point out that it is written by an independent design professional who personally enjoys using the software and shares her lessons learned. If you’ve done fancy CSP effects and tricks to your fonts, they’ll be lost in translation. CSP will only export the font, size, and color of the text. What you’re really doing is creating a duplicate of your project, just in a different format. Exports are more for final publishing, anyway. You are using the “Save Duplicate” option. You need Clip Studio Paint 1.12 to use this new option. If there’s a lot of text on the layer, it cuts it off after the first batch of characters and there’s no room left for the parenthetical. ![]() That doesn’t make much sense, but beggars can’t be choosers. Now, the parenthetical is a repeat of the layer name which is the text in the layer. Before, the parenthetical would indicate that it’s a pixel layer. The other thing you may notice here is that the layer name and layer type are both the text that’s on the layer. Just to make the difference even more obvious, here’s the side-by-side in Designer of the layers before and after this update: It’s not recognizing the font that is theoretically selected - because it’s not a font that’s selected, but a collection of pixels. I have the Text tool on and it’s offering me the chance to type something in Arial next. It’s just another layer with pixels drawn on it. You can see that the text layer (highlighted) says it’s a Pixel layer now and doesn’t have the “T” text icon next to it. Yes, I can also adjust the oval in the other layer by grabbing onto it and resizing it all I want.įor comparison’s sake, here’s how a PSD file I saved before updating to the new version of CSP looked: I can edit this layer now with whatever text updates I want to do. Look in the upper right corner and you’ll see where it recognizes the font as “CCDaveGibbons”. You can see how the layer with the text on it has the “T” icon next to it to indicate that it’s a text layer. This is how things look in Affinity Designer after I load the file in: They can import PSD files, so I tried it with this one. I don’t have Photoshop, but I do have Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. It’s redundant, unnecessary, and only clutters up your layers. If you select “Image & text” it will save out your text layers twice - once as vector and once as pixels/raster. Your text will be editable in Photoshop or whatever Photoshop-compatible image editor you use next. Choose “Text only.” This will preserve the text in its original vector format - essentially, it’ll save the meta data instead of the pixels. Then, go to the dropdown for “Text layer”. The next window is where it gets interesting:īe sure to check off the “Text” button in the “Output image” section. Seriously, check that box so you never need to read that warning again. GIve the file a name and a folder in the next window that pops up and agree to this window in case you haven’t told it to never to show itself again: To export this out and keep everything editable as vector bits later, you need to go to File -> Save Duplicate ->. They’re both vector items on separate layers. It’s one line of text in Comicraft’s Dave Gibbons’ font, with an oval drawn around it. I put together a super simple file for this example. Let me show you how it works now, because there is a trick and an extra step involved. You can make a duplicate of the file you’re working on, save it as a PSD file, and check a box to keep the text layers as text and not pixels. In the just-released Clip Studio Paint 1.12.0 update, they’ve fixed that issue. Photoshop won’t even be able to recognize the font you used in the file. You can’t, in other words, edit the text easily in another program, even if you saved it into PSD format, which is made for Photoshop. The text becomes a bunch of pixels rather than a collection of letters from a specific font. It’s been a longstanding issue with Clip Studio Paint that when you export your project to a Photoshop format file, it will rasterize your text. ![]() You can now use boost at any time and the boost bar can be increased or decreased. Other takedowns that should be mentioned:īurnout 3 has a new boost system and, as a result, Burnouts and Burnout Chains are removed. Takedowns are also classified in streaks: Collecting all Signature Takedowns unlocks the Oval Racer Special. ![]()
![]() ![]() Sticking with ARM would’ve allowed a much thinner design, but it also would’ve placed the Surface 3 in direct competition with Android and iOS, a battle it’d never win. That the new model isn’t substantially slimmer or lighter than its predecessor is a disappointment, but it’s the price paid for the move to an Intel x86 processor, even if it’s an efficient Atom. In fact, there’s kind of four positions, as the stand will also support an almost 90-degree angle if you’re using the Surface 3 on a desk (trying this on your lap will cause the hinge to either snap shut or into the first of its “real” positions). The first is nearly upright, the second offers a significant incline, and the final lays the tablet back almost 45 degrees. Microsoft’s engineers have also reduced the size of the plastic strip that houses the wireless antenna.Ī minor change can be found in the kickstand, too, if you look for it: The new model supports three positions, rather than two. Now they’re on the same edge, at the top of the Surface 3 when it’s used as a PC, which makes avoiding unintentional bumps less likely. ![]() They used to be located far apart, on perpendicular edges, which meant the buttons were too often in the way. The main difference is the location of the power and volume buttons. Thickness has dropped by just two-tenths of a millimeter, and weight has dropped only a few grams.Ĭompared side-by-side with the previous budget Surface, it can be hard to tell the new model from the old. And it’s not much of an improvement compared to the Surface 2. It’s noticeably heavier than our favorite dedicated tablets, such as the iPad Air 2 and Dell Venue 8 7000, however. At 1.37 pounds, this latest model weighs a bit less than a 4th-generation iPad. With past models, the sharp edges of this design caused ergonomic problems, as pointy corners could dig into a user’s palms the Surface 3 is so light that this has become a non-issue. Instead it went with a more industrial, slate-like aesthetic with beveled sides and hard lines rather than rounded sides or a curved back. From the start, the themes of Surface design have been polish and quality, fit and finish, but the company didn’t just copy Apple. No one can claim Microsoft has ripped off another company’s design for the Surface line. So is Panay right, and the Surface 3 is a device people can love? Or is the company’s faith in Surface misguided? Design Unlike the Surface Pro 3, which is clearly built with a specific set of business travelers in mind, the Surface 3 is a device that could be an alternative to an iPad, a notebook, or both, and is priced to fit almost anyone’s budget. The Surface 3 puts that idea to the test. These aren’t all-star specifications, and the Surface 3 is certainly less capable (on paper, at least) than larger competitors.īut Microsoft has always contended that the Surface line’s dual functionality is its key strength, specifications be damned. Our review model was upgraded to four gigabytes of memory and a 128GB SSD, inflating the price from $499 to $599. The device has a small 10-inch display and, in its standard configuration, comes with just two gigabytes of RAM alongside a 64GB solid state drive. Leaping from Windows RT to 8.1 addresses that issue, but it’s not the only limitation Surface 3 must conquer. The problem with the base-line Surface has always been limited functionality. New hardware is always a boon, but it’s not the processor that held Surface back in the past. That should mean greater performance and efficiency than any previous Atom device. It’s also based on Cherry Trail, Intel’s latest version of the Atom platform. This quad-core chip is clocked at 1.6GHz with a maximum burst speed of 2.4GHz. Unlike those tablets, this new model runs Windows 8.1 on an Intel x86 processor, the Atom x7-Z8700. Starting at $499, the Surface 3 is a successor to the Surface RT and Surface 2, which used the limited Windows RT operating system. Microsoft clearly believes that: Rather than abandoning the lineup that has cost it a billion to date, the company has tweaked and refined the Surface, introducing multiple new models - including the affordable new Surface 3. “Having a product that people love is the most important thing,” he told CNN. ![]() Surface creator Panos Panay recently discussed the billion-dollar financial hit Microsoft took after the introduction of the original. ![]() The Beta Club is a student service organization made up of high-achieving students that has chapters across the nation.
